MAIE OFFERS GRANTS

There are a variety of grants and awards available to conference attendees and presenters:

Newcomer Professional Development Grant: Open to people who have been in the field of international education exchange for less than one year and who have never attended a MAIE conference. This grant was established to encourage individuals to attend the conference and to assist them in getting professionally oriented. Individuals who meet the qualifications and who are interested in applying for the grant should submit a one page proposal on why they believe they qualify and how obtaining this grant will contribute to their professional growth. Two recipients of the Newcomer Professional Development Grant will be selected and awarded up to $150.00 to cover direct conference costs (travel, hotel, registration fee, and meals).

Student Grant: This grant is for students who are currently working or volunteering with an international office and are interested in a career in international education. MAIE will waive conference registration.

Best of State Grant: For anyone whose session is accepted at NAFSA Regional, MAIE will help defray the costs by providing conference related expenses (not to exceed $250.00).

International Educational Service Award - This award is for a member of the community who has contributed to MAIE and to the mission of promoting international education in Michigan.

We encourage all those qualified to apply. If any “veterans” know of anyone who may qualify, please encourage them by sharing this information.

David D. Horner Award for Exceptional Service - Candidates should have 10 years of experience in the field with 5 years of experience while in Michigan. Service to the state can include service on or in support of the MAFSA/MAIE team, but may also include mentoring or otherwise serving as a resource to others in the field. Letters of support should delineate the contributions made to the field at the state, regional, or national level. Absent such letters, the nominee's resume delineating MAFSA/MAIE and NAFSA service would be useful. A committee of past recipients will be convened to select the winner. The winner will be announced at the MAIE annual conference.

Please access our website and complete the forms or write your nomination and send via email attachment or fax/mail your application.
